Organisation-wise and transport and commerce-wise, the main agent for all freight traffic activities on Serbian Railways railway network is Freight Traffic Main Office.
Freight Traffic Main Office directs its activities towards the completion of transport activities in a mutually satisfactory way, both for the users of transport services and for Serbian Railways in the sense of its rational business operation.
Serbian Railways operates the carriage of around 9,325m tons of goods annually (in 2002) and around 2,26m net-ton kilometres, thus operating:
- 3808,5 kilometres of railway lines
- 158 pieces of active tractive stock
- 4800 wagons
