New Railway Timetable as of Sunday, December 9
Sunday, 09. December 2007.

New railway Timetable will come into force on Sunday, December 9, 2007, and will be valid till December 13, 2008. New transport organization will be applied at all European railway enterprises. For the first time, “Serbian Railways” provided an adequate number of rolling stock for traffic operation.

New railway timetable will introduce several significant improvements in passenger service, both international and domestic. With the introduction of new timetable, there should be operating 64 international and 376 domestic trains (88 “Beovoz” trains), which amounts totally 440 trains.

Significant improvement in international service is the change of departure time Belgrade-Thessalonica at 10.20pm, instead of 9pm. Also, morning train for Thessalonica, which was departing from Belgrade at 7.05am, will be cancelled. So far, that train has been operating from Ljubljana to Thessalonica, and according to new timetable, it will be running only to Belgrade. International train “Avala” from Belgrade, via Subotica and Budapest, to Vienna, will be leaving Belgrade every day at 6.45am.

New timetable will maintain all direct international railway connections between Belgrade and most of European capitals: Munich, Sofia, Budapest, Vienna, Skopje, Thessalonica, Istanbul, Bucharest, Kiev, Moscow, Zagreb, Ljubljana, Banja Luka, Zurich and Venice, and tourist destinations Bar, Burgas and Varna as well.

On the line Belgrade-Bar, business train (departing from Belgrade at 1.10pm, from Bar 12.30pm), and car-sleeper train to Bar (leaving Belgrade at 11.10pm, and Bar 10pm), according to the new timetable will be operating only during summer. Trains operating on this international line during the entire year are: Belgrade-Bar at 10.10am and 10.10pm, Bar-Belgrade at 10.00am and 09.00pm (evening train transporting cars during winter). Trains on the lines Nis-Bar-Nis and Subotica-Bar-Subotica will be operating every day, and the one between Novi Sad and Bar only during summer.

Regarding domestic service, the most important improvement is introduction of new pair of trains between Belgrade and Uzice, operating in winter, the period when business train Belgrade-Bar will be temporarily cancelled.

Certain changes have been introduced in operation of two pairs of trains from Subotica to Belgrade. As a result, according to new timetable, one pair will be operating to Subotica, and the other only to Novi Sad.

Belgrade City Railway “Beovoz” will maintain regular service from Belgrade to Pozarevac, while “Beovoz” line from Ripanj will be extended to Indjija.

In 2007, Freight Transport Department recorded the increase of basic work volume indicators. Consequently, according to evaluations, till the end of this year freight transport increase (in tones) will achieve 9,6 percent, to be exact. 10,2 percent in net-tone kilometers, comparing to 2006.

New timetable should provide further work volume increase to freight transport department though 2008, precisely 1,9 percent in tones, or 2,6 percent in net-tone kilometers, comparing to 2007. Given in tones, new timetable should provide transport volume of 15,8 million tones of goods in 2008, that is 43.169 tones a day.
